Baker Falls Dispatch
All the news, if you can believe it
New Home, Same Community, so let’s all do more cool shit.
Big Announcement
Thank you dear neighbors for all your kindness and support since our unexpected shut down this summer. We wish there were more we could have done, but as they say, there were circumstances beyond our control.
Now for the wonderful news: Baker Falls is moving to 192 Allen Street, at the intersection of the East Village and the Lower East Side.
The Redux (pop. 192)
You might ask: what will we conjure up in this new environment?
The Former NYC mainstay Rockwood Music Hall (#2) will get our Feverdream treatment, making the space feel like a cozy, mysterious hamlet in the woods, a.k.a., Baker Falls. In the next few months, we’ll be bringing back lots of the people, artists, and vibes that we laid the foundation with the first time around.
Deb Parker will once again be decorating the space a la the decrepit manor house in the woods, but with a new twist.
During the day, a cafe with tasty food and coffee will provide a thoughtful and bright space where people can meet or work on their laptops… we’ll even provide a place to take private meetings and calls in designated backrooms for neighbors on the go and friends looking for a cool place to catch up.
When the shadows descend, happy hour hits, and soon after come the performances and events. The Anti-Folk Anti Hoot will be rebooted. We’ll crank it up at The New Colossus Festival and other multi-day experiences and conferences on the horizon. We’ll actualize our maker-faire Sundays so you can drink and shop well-curated retail stalls with cool shit you never knew you needed.
New Stories to Tell
As we journey down the road, we want to show love for anyone who has walked in our various doors over the 30+ years our Managing Director Nick Bodor has been building and investing in the neighborhood. Now it’s time for different generations to hang out and learn from each other, be inspired IRL, and live with other humans. We have so many exciting details to share with you, so stay tuned.
We want to thank all the old friends and strangers alike who answered a call to arms and believed in us, making our new home a reality. We expect the ragtag fleet we’ve assembled to be the best one yet.
See you around January 15th for a soft open, and remember: Downtown is a State of Mind.
