Baker Falls Dispatch
All the news, if you can believe it
We’re throwing It out to the universe
It is rare we get to announce an opening date so quickly, and we have no idea how soft this opening will be, but we are telling you all now: we will have our first show on Monday Jan 13 by bringing back the amazing Anti-Folk Antihoot Reboot that the mighty Joe Bendik & Jon Berger brought to us last year (with Lach’s blessing iykyk)
Send in the… You Know
On top of the Anti-Hoot community, we’re going to be diving into another special scene we are calling Avant Clowns or Absurdist Clowning (we’ll see what sticks as we name a new live subgenre). The talent involved with these folks will blow you away… but you have to be cool about it. We are looking to inspire a new bunch of industrious idiots to remind us that it is OK to laugh at sad or intense things in our lives…and in the world.
Indie Rock’s New Home
And of course we can’t forget the indie rock scene at Baker Falls. We will book emerging rock artists climbing to the highest peaks with our old pals at The New Colossus Festival in March.
Check out their website for lineup updates at www.NewColossusFestival.com.
Wanted
We need someone to design a flier for Macramayhem at Maker Falls: a Sunday afternoon coffee/drinks hang where you can come by and check out all the booths for our curated Retail and Re-commerce market (thanks to Ben Dietz for the name… we told him at his weekly “Breakfast Club” we were going to steal it).
Death and Rebirth
As we here at Baker Falls embrace the death of past lives and the birth of new ones, we continue to be fascinated by how the two have always co-existed since the beginning of time. Just as the forest is constantly reinventing itself, we hope to change the way people think of live venues, and of the communities gathering in one place. As we head on down the path, we will be reaching out to more artists and local scenes like the ones we told you about in this dispatch so we can help them grow… as well as entertain a bunch of strangers.
So much to tell you about in the coming weeks, stay tuned for a live calendar where you can buy tickets, and remember: Downtown is a State of Mind™
